After developing some extension pain in my right wrist this summer, likely from overtraining and too much time on the computer, I looked into a number of wrist wraps to help me continue my normal CrossFit routine. I purchased 7 wraps, tried them all, and this is the one that I ended up going back to the most, and funny enough, happened to be the cheapest one on Amazon as well.
I like this wrap from Warm Body Cold Mind because it is lightweight, and it is easy to put on with the thumbholes. The wraps are labeled LEFT and RIGHT to quickly get on correctly.
These wrist wraps also adjust how much support they provide easily just by how you wrap them. You can go higher up or lower on your wrist very easily, and if you want more support they are easy to tighten.
I doubt this wrap will last a whole year, but for the couple of weeks I’ve really needed it for my wrist pain, it’s been a lifesaver. It helps me avoid too much extension in a front squat or power clean. And it provides enough support when doing burpees or push-ups, I’ve been able to get back to doing those movements unmodified.
- Easy to put on and off
- Easy to tie
- Not too bulky
- Thin material likely won’t last long
I taped my wrist for the first week when I was modifying most movements, and that was helpful, but much more restrictive than these wrist wraps. In my case of just needing to rest my wrists for a few weeks, going from a week or two of tape, into these wrist wraps has helped resolve most of the pain. I’ll likely continue using these wraps going forward in all my CrossFit workouts.
